Amaryllis Jewel
Many of Diana's subjects grow in her garden. Often self-seeding plants produce their own design inspirations as in the harmonious blue composition above.
Diana's flower paintings are mostly watercolours, some of them produced as prints and greetings cards. Her flowers are detailed with a thorough understanding of plant structure. |
Diana is a member of the Royal Horticulture Society and the Friends of Dyffryn Gardens. A keen and knowledgeable gardener she has opened her garden for the NGS Open Gardens Yellow Book Scheme. She also opens her garden for the annual Penarth Garden Trail in aid of the Children's Society.
Oriental Poppy
Poppies combine beautiful flowers and foliage, it is such pleasure to capture their fleeting beauty. |
Purple Tulips
Purple is one of Diana's favourite colours and she loves flowers with an elegant structure so these tulips were an inspiration. The yellowish background demonstrates her knowledge of painting theory, a perfect example of using complimentary colours to enliven the picture. Attention to the foliage is also an important factor. |
