To End The Year - Snow!
Much of Britain had snow - heavy snow - during December. In Penarth it was fleeting, no sooner here than gone, thanks to our Bristol Channel micro-climate. The birds went into rapid response mode, within minutes six blackbirds, two redwings and a crowd of small birds were busy tucking into the Pyracantha berries and the bird feeders, it is a long time since I had that many blackbirds in the garden together.
It was magic, the garden was sprinkled with sparkling white snow transforming it into a Winter delight filled with happy birds. It was still snowing when I took this photograph as you can see from the raindrops on the window.
I enjoyed using my lovely 80th Birthday present etched vase to make a Christmas decoration for the first time using Chinese lanterns from the garden. I combined these with dark and white twiggy stems with silver berries.
I love decorating my open fireplace at Christmas and lighting a log fire for the family get-together. This year the party took place on New Year's Eve, a buffet lunch for my growing family including two great-grandsons. It is always a lively event and such a joy to see them all together enjoying each others company.
There are still some of the popular cassette-style desk calendars for sale. Many have been sent to families and friends living abroad, in fact all of us are enjoying a lively export trade!
We had a busy December at Artisans Corner and would like to thank all our loyal customers for their continued support through the year.
It is not just your support you have given us but the confidence to grow in ideas. We have all introduced new ideas and products and this is thanks to your encouragement.
A Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to everyone - and thank you.
