Plant of the Month
Rose Purple Skyliner
Always spectacular, Purple Skyliner makes a lovely focus in my June garden. It is not strictly classed as a repeat-flowering climber but does produce generous second and third flushes of flowers throughout the season. It is also very fragrant.
Penarth Open Studio Trail
Our annual event, now in its fourth year, goes from strength to strength with more artists and craftspeople taking part again this year including my daughter, Amanda, with her SilkMoon presentation in Turner House.
Here I am continuing my demonstration of flower painting using red penstemons from my garden. Sandra was also demonstrating jewellery making through the weekend. A mounted original watercolour of mixed penstemons is available in Artisans Corner and can be located in my print racks.
It was a lovely weekend, so well supported by our local community along with visitors and holidaymakers from many other places too. We all look forward to this opportunity to showcase our work and meet so many delightful people so it's a big "thank you" from all of us taking part, your support is very much appreciated.

Good Morning Mr Swan
This watercolour painting is set in Cosmeston Country park, just outside Penarth, a beautiful nature reserve developed from disused quarries, There are two adjoining lakes with wildfowl and fish, plant conservation areas, fields and woodlands all rich with flora and fauna including kingfishers, otters and wild orchids. There is a café and a play area for children too.
I saw this little girl looking tentatively at the swans and it brought back vivid childhood memories of my first meeting with swans when I was very small - they were enormous and quite terrifying, an impression underlined by my mother and auntie advising me not get too close - "they can break your leg with those wings!" - I have had a healthy respect for them ever since!
It is available as large (£30) and small (£20) mounted ready-to-frame prints.
