Always a favourite of mine, I love the soft blue-green foliage. The lovely hips will turn rich crimson as we head into Autumn. This photograph is special as it celebrates the arrival of some much-needed rain, it has been so dry. This is happening every year now, a sure sign that global warming really is happening but I think it is coming much faster than we thought it would. I have installed two new waterbutts and now have a total of three which I feel is a positive step in the right direction.
Penarth Open Gardens
Despite the drought which has badly affected mine and other gardens, I am looking forward to our annual event. I think the lack of rain will probably be the major topic of conversation and I'm hoping to share expriences with our visiting gardeners. I'm having an art exhibition here together with Sandra James Artisan Jewellery and we will be donating any sales profits to The Children's Society.
Shade into sun, I love this little path, it changes so much during the year from hellebores in Spring to Autumn colour. Talking of hellebores, I have some surplus young plants from Farmyard Nurseries in Llandysul for sale in aid of the Charity. Most of my existing hellebores came from there, it's a great favourite of mine but ....er... I got a bit carried away with my order! It's been lovely to give many away to family and friends but even nicer to have some left to share too.
